There was nothing but Zoo as far as the eye could see, and although my deck wasn’t necessarily built to play Zoo mirrors for ten rounds, I was able to keep up with the unrelenting torrent of Dridents right up until the end, losing on the bubble in round 9 to pure Zoo.

Our team had a pretty good first event together and I am really looking forward to the rest of the 2017/2018 competitive season! That being said, I would like to share with all of you my tournament report from YCS Toronto 2017. When looking at other tournament reports from accomplished players in the past, one of Patrick Hoban’s articles really stuck out to me. In the article, he discussed Samuel Pedigo’s quote about how tournament success is achieved during the weeks leading up to the tournament rather than the tournament itself. While everyone will remember watching the top tables in the final rounds of swiss or the exciting top cut matches, very few people consider that the correct plays are made because these players have seen similar game states in testing and have prepared themselves for these moments.
